Anna Champeney Textiles are based in a small hamlet in the northern Spanish mountains, in one of the most severely de-populated regions of the country.
Our very existence here, in a village of under 50 people, helps to reinforce the social and economic fabric of the village.
Through the unusual nature and high quality of our designs we promote a positive image of living here.
Every textile we make is born here.
Some of our most precious hand-woven textiles even feature unique colour palettes extracted by hand roots, leaves, barks and flowers.
These are all sustainably harvested and dyed by hand.
So when you buy our handwoven textiles you are not only purchasing something special, unique and of real value, you are also supporting our small community – the fabric of rural life – in this beautiful corner of north Spain.

Selecting colours for a new project is always exciting – like the first steps of choreographing a new dance.
At Anna Champeney we select our colour combinations with great care and create our own colour palettes with natural dyes.
We love the mustard yellow we obtained from weld and the soft purple of orchil, the precious lichen dye that we extract in small quantities here from the Umbilicaria pustulata lichen. These lichens are indicators of clean air and cannot thrive in polluted areas but thrive in the mountains of the Ribeira Sacra, Galicia.
The deep glow of an indigo-dyed wool skein of pure new wool dyed here at Anna Champeney.
The wool is from the organic family herd at Stow Park Farm, Bungay, England.
We´re really proud of this new design, handwoven in 100% pure cashmere.
Special love has gone into the creation of this design, collecting, cultivating and sorting roots, lichens and flowers to extract their spectacularly beautiful natural dyes that simply cannot be matched for their subtlety and harmony.
To wear this piece is to wrap yourself in pure nature.
